UX Design in Figma

Steakhouse Reservation App

During the first activity in the Google UX design course, I was given the exciting opportunity to create a user-friendly experience for a restaurant reservation app. To kick off the design process, I started by doing some research to find out what other reservation apps offer and what users love when making reservations. Following the course guidelines, I created wireframes and prototypes that showcased vibrant colors and clear buttons to make it easy for users to take action.

Project Goals

My primary goal for this project is to create a user-friendly restaurant reservation app that simplifies the process of making reservations and enhances the overall dining experience. I aim to provide a seamless and intuitive interface that allows users to easily find available time slots, select their preferred table, and make reservations with minimal effort. By incorporating vibrant colors and clear buttons, I aim to create a visually engaging design that encourages users to take action and complete the reservation process.

Target Audience

The target audience includes busy professionals, families, and individuals who enjoy dining out and want a convenient way to make reservations. I specifically focus on individuals who value efficiency and appreciate a smooth and hassle-free booking process. The app is designed to cater to both tech-savvy users who are accustomed to using reservation platforms, as well as those who may be less familiar with such applications. By keeping the interface user-friendly and accessible, I aim to appeal to a broad range of users.

Key Challenges

One of the key challenges I encountered during this project was understanding the needs and preferences of our target audience. To address this, I conducted thorough research to analyze other reservation apps in the market and identify user preferences when making reservations. Additionally, I strived to strike a balance between visual appeal and usability, ensuring that the design is both visually engaging and functional.

Research Study

To gather insights and understand the expectations of the target audience, I conducted a research study. This study involved analyzing existing reservation apps, interviewing potential users, and gathering feedback from restaurant owners and staff. By understanding the pain points and desires of both users and stakeholders, I was able to refine my design approach and create a solution that addresses their needs.

Initial Design Concept Sketch

During the early stages of the design process, I created initial design concept sketches that incorporated vibrant colors and clear buttons. These wireframes and prototypes served as a visual representation of my vision for the app. By utilizing bold and attention-grabbing colors, I aimed to create an engaging and visually appealing user interface. Clear buttons and intuitive navigation were incorporated to guide users through the reservation process seamlessly.

As the project progressed, I iterated on these initial design concepts based on user feedback and testing. The ultimate goal was to create a design that not only meets the needs of the target audience but also exceeds their expectations in terms of usability and aesthetics.
